Genetest Corporation is committed to increased transparency and the explicit statement of our values concerning corporate social responsibility. Our aim is to address issues in which we and our stakeholders are interested, as well as to provide a benchmark by which we can measure and improve our performance.
In spring 2002, Genetest Corporation published its first Corporate Social Responsibility Report. Through the report and our website, we have articulated our mission, vision and values in a way that our operating companies and joint venture partners can easily use to guide their own local operating principles.
Genetest Corporation's business model is characterized by strong local management within a global network of companies. This allows us to address social and ethical issues in ways that meet the needs of local markets while also using our influence as a global company to affect positive change in the industry. The responsibility for prioritizing and carrying out practices is kept in the able hands of local leadership, which allows us to be responsive and agile towards concerns and new ideas.
In the area of corporate social responsibility, we've accomplished a great deal in our local markets over the last two years. We are proud of the work our operating companies have done. A good example is non-invasive prenatal fetal cell separation techniques which was the culmination of nearly three years of cooperation and innovation among Genetest and partner companies. Our companies have also given new meaning to corporate citizenship in times of crisis.. Our U.S. companies worked towards a common goal of raising funds and providing genetic testing matching and identification services to benefit the victims of the September 11 tragedy. Aid to the HLRF Foundation and future support of the Hospital for Sick Children are other examples. Genetest Corporation has also taken a leadership role in the industry through projects such as the Standardization and Coalition Initiative, advancing the development of global standards to ultimately benefit consumers with well delivered and standardized testing.
We are convinced that we can only be a successful company if we operate in a responsible manner. The report and this website are two of the steps towards becoming the company that we want to be. The principles set forward here are fundamental to our business strategy and the way in which we plan to measure our success in years to come.
